MEET DAN
Dan Lee is running to represent Virginia in Congress to take on the affordability crisis that’s crushing Northern Virginia families, starting with the skyrocketing costs of health care and housing.n.
Dan has spent his career in public service building solutions that work and holding the powerful accountable. He’s worked at the highest levels of government and global development, and he built companies to make health care more transparent and affordable. But for Dan, this work is personal.
He was born and raised in Fairfax County to working-class South Korean immigrant parents who often worked two jobs and took on extra shifts to give their children a shot at the American Dream. Dan mopped floors to put himself through college, later serving in the White House, at the World Bank, and as a senior aide to the Democratic Chief of Staff for the Governor of Massachusetts.
Dan’s father, a small business owner, died of heart complications after years of rationing his medication. His mother, a lifelong nurse, lacked insurance until Medicare kicked in. When she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Dan moved home to be her caregiver. These are the experiences that shaped Dan, and the reason he’s fighting to fix a broken system that leaves too many behind.
Dan is also a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), a husband, and a proud product of Fairfax County public schools. He earned his undergrduate degree in Biological Sciences from George Washington University and a Master of Public Health and MBA from Dartmouth. He considers one of his greatest accomplishments to be convincing his wife, Weisiyu, to marry him.
“We’re up against threats we haven’t seen in a generation. And too many Democratic leaders in Washington are showing up but not fighting back. We need new blood, new ideas, and fighters with a vision for what can be achieved beyond the current catastrophe.”
Dan is running for Congress because Virginia’s 11th district deserves someone who’s lived what working families live every day, who will never stop fighting for them, and has a plan that will help Americans thrive.
